TOWING & SPECIFICATIONS
2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RPO Codes & Axle Ratios
GM Regular Production Option codes help identify factory equipment, including the axle, transmission, transfer case and towing package.
Confirm the engine, trim, drivetrain, market and installed equipment before using a part number, capacity or repair procedure.
What to look for
Build codes are useful when matching parts or interpreting towing charts. The equipment label location and build-data access vary, and later modifications may not match factory records. Ask a Chevrolet parts or service department to decode the VIN if the original labels are missing.
Why axle ratio matters
Two otherwise similar Silverados can have different towing ratings because of axle gearing and equipment. Never assign an axle ratio merely from wheel size or trim badge. Confirm it from factory build information or mechanical inspection.
- Keep the VIN and build codes with your maintenance records.
- Verify gear ratio before replacing differential components.
- Use exact configurations in the Chevrolet towing chart.
Use the correct model-year manual and current service information. Stop if instructions or safety precautions are unclear, and use a qualified technician for work you cannot verify.
