What is the 2015 Silverado True North Edition?
True North Edition is a Canadian-market option package, not a separate engine or an alternative name for the LT trim. Chevrolet’s 2015 Canadian catalogue lists it for eligible four-door Double Cab and Crew Cab models. Exact features and availability depend on the truck’s LT or LT Z71 configuration and other installed options.
What equipment came with True North?
The Canadian catalogue lists a 10-way power driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, remote start, eight-inch MyLink audio, rear-vision camera, rear-window defroster and a 110-volt outlet. A manual tilt/telescoping steering column was included where compatible with the engine. LT models also received the Trailering Package with a locking rear differential and fog lamps. LT Z71 package details differ, including specified 18-inch wheels.
- True North was a package added to eligible trims, not the Silverado model itself.
- The package did not automatically give every truck the maximum published tow rating.
- Confirm the original option codes and equipment before buying replacement components.
How True North differs from a regular LT
LT is a trim level; True North added a set of convenience and equipment options on eligible Canadian LT trucks. An LT badge alone does not establish the presence of True North. Likewise, adding similar equipment later does not make the truck a factory True North Edition.
Package restrictions and towing
The brochure identifies incompatibilities with certain option packages, including LT Convenience and Custom Sport, and documents specific True North equipment. It does not mean that every True North truck has Max Trailering Package. For towing, confirm the engine, axle ratio, cab, drivetrain, transmission, installed hitch and factory build information.
How to identify an original True North truck
Start with the VIN and original Canadian window sticker, purchase paperwork or GM build record. Check equipment against the brochure, but do not rely on an advertisement, decal or feature list alone to establish an original package. A Canadian dealership may be able to confirm the build.
Use the correct model-year manual and current service information. Stop if instructions or safety precautions are unclear, and use a qualified technician for work you cannot verify.
