PROBLEMS & DIAGNOSTICS

2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 P0300 Misfire Code

P0300 means the engine computer detected random or multiple-cylinder misfires. On the 2015 Silverado 1500, the cause can be ignition, fuel, air or mechanical trouble.

Check your configuration

Confirm the engine, trim, drivetrain, market and installed equipment before using a part number, capacity or repair procedure.

What P0300 means

The code identifies misfires spread across cylinders or not reliably isolated to one cylinder; it does not mean a particular coil, plug or lifter has failed. A flashing check-engine light can mean the misfire is severe enough to damage the catalytic converter. Reduce load, stop safely and arrange diagnosis.

Tests that narrow the cause

Save pending codes, freeze-frame and misfire counts before clearing anything. Check plug and coil condition, fuel trims, intake leaks and injector performance. If one cylinder remains affected, a compression or leak-down test may identify a mechanical problem. Compare symptoms cold, hot, under acceleration and at idle.

  • Check for cylinder codes P0301–P0308 alongside P0300.
  • A rough idle after a fuel fill might point to a different system than a heavy-load misfire.
  • Do not replace an oxygen sensor based solely on a P0300 code.
Before working on your vehicle

Use the correct model-year manual and current service information. Stop if instructions or safety precautions are unclear, and use a qualified technician for work you cannot verify.
