TOWING & SPECIFICATIONS
2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Payload, GVWR & Axle Ratings
The correct payload and weight limits come from the individual truck’s certification and tire/loading labels.
Confirm the engine, trim, drivetrain, market and installed equipment before using a part number, capacity or repair procedure.
Read the door-jamb labels
Look for the combined weight of occupants and cargo and the vehicle’s rated gross weight and axle limits. Factory options, accessories, passengers and added equipment reduce the remaining payload. Do not substitute another Silverado’s online payload number.
Loading for towing
Trailer tongue weight counts against truck payload. Distribute cargo without exceeding either axle rating or the tire limits. A weight-distributing hitch does not increase the vehicle’s published GVWR or payload rating.
- Weigh the loaded truck and trailer if working near the limits.
- Verify tire load capacity and cold inflation pressure.
- Do not exceed GVWR, GAWR or trailer ratings.
Use the correct model-year manual and current service information. Stop if instructions or safety precautions are unclear, and use a qualified technician for work you cannot verify.
